Chapter 10

Leigh had to give it to Tyrique; he really was trying to court her. They’d been dating for the past six months on the low. It wasn’t that Leigh was ashamed of Ty, but she wanted to figure out where the situation was going before she had mentioned anything about it to her sisters. Now that Shia had coerced the information out of her, she prayed that everything with her and Ty stayed good. She hadn’t dealt with a man since Kodi because of the range of emotions she knew she was capable of feeling and how they made her act like a raving lunatic.

Removing the card from the Edible Arrangement fruit display that had just been delivered at her apartment, Leigh smiled.You had to love a brother for trying, she thought. A knock at the front door seized her attention away from the arrangement, now sitting on her kitchen counter. Standing on tiptoe to glance through the peephole, Leigh shook her head in amusement when she saw Ty on the other end whistling a tune.

“What are you doing here?” She asked him with a smile when she opened the door.

“Coming to see you.” He said holding out a purple teddy bear with a heart in the middle that saidTeddy woves you for her to take.

“Ty,” she laughed, “What is all this?” She said taking the bear and stepping back so that he could enter her apartment.

“Just trying to brighten your day.” Ty said removing his NY fitted cap and setting it on her wood coffee table as he took a seat in her chocolate and cream leather loveseat.

Sitting on the matching sofa across from Tyrique, Leigh smiled. “You have succeeded.”

“What you got going on for today?” He asked her.

Leigh took him in and thought he looked very handsome laid back chillin’ in her place. Tyrique had more of a gentle spirit about him. The complete opposite of Kodi. Kodi had never really been nice to her. She couldn’t understand why she hung around following him and disrupting his life as long as she had. He’d excited her at the time with his bad boy ways and antics. Now that she was older, she needed someone a little calmer and Ty offered her that.

Tyrique stood about 5’10 and God thought it fit to encase all 5’10” of him in chocolate and Leigh wasn’t about to complain because she absolutely loved it. Reminding her of the actor Idris Elba, Leigh wasn’t going to lie, she almost became putty in his hands from the first moment she saw him standing on the platform checking her out. She’d been interested, so she had been ecstatic when he’d come over to her and opened a conversation as if they were lifelong friends. She did enjoy that one quality about him. It felt like they had known each other forever. They were completely comfortable with each other.

“Nothing yet. It’s raining out and I hate walking up and down New York streets in the rain.” Leigh gazed at him inquiringly, “Why, did you want to do something?”

“Yeah.
